They had a team of “wedding workforce”, from the flower team, the decorating team and they even put up their own marquee! It was just so lovely to see so many of their friends and family coming together to help make this wedding happen. Here are some shots they sent me before the wedding:
I knew from our first official meeting that this wedding was going to have lots of beautiful surprises and elements but in all honesty, I don't think I realised how many! I was blown away by all the stunning little details, the vast amounts of gorgeous flowers, the MOST INCREDIBLE cake you have ever seen, and in the most stunning location that will simply melt your soul.
I met Mel when I did the photos for her company Easy2Name a few years ago. Mel and her husband David have four sons and Amy has been like a daughter to them since she was little. Amy now works with Mel too. So of course they offered to host Amy & Sam’s wedding at their perfect little piece of paradise - their holiday home in Cornwall, Trecobben Farm.
I asked Amy to share all her wedding secrets with us and here is what she had to say:
“The Confetti: This was all homemade by Eileen (Holly’s, Chief Bridesmaid’s Mum) The petals were collected by friends over the entire year and she dried them all in her spare bedroom. We ended up with 9 litres of confetti – all homemade.
The Jam Jars: I collected 300 from friends and family. Decorated by myself and bridesmaids one Friday night with twine and lace.
Tea Bags: I made & personalised to hang from the china tea cups to create the place names.
The Seating plan: I bought a cheap step ladder from eBay and created a table plan using jam jars and twine. Really simple and easy but it looked really effective.
Signs: These were painted or written by my Sister Rosie – she is so arty!
The Flowers – the cut flowers for the churns, jam jars and shepherds crooks were collected by Mel and her flower girls (Eileen, Marty, Tracy, Michelle, Margaret and Barbara) on the Thursday evening and then they arranged them all day Friday. Marty and Barbara made the amazing churns!
The Marquee Bunting: Was made by Holly, and we picked out 5 lovely fabrics which she created all from scratch.
The Outside Bunting: Mel’s Mum (Marty) made all the bunting outside – all 1.2KM of it!! A lot of the fabric was bought from charity shops and donated by friends.
It’s amazing what people donate when you send out a little message on Facebook!”
WHAT!! 1.2 kilometres of bunting … WOW! Thats a crazy amount of bunting ;) Thanks for sharing your behind the scenes wedding secrets with us Amy!
As you can see, I was not exaggerating about the stunning small touches and all the incredible people who were involved. It was truly the most magnificent wedding day and I am so honoured to have been apart of it! Thank you Amy & Sam for choosing me to be your wedding photographer!
Amy & Sam, “Shannon, we just wanted to say thank you thank you thank you for the amazing photos! They have truly exceeded all expectations, they really are just perfect! I have looked through them about 10 times already! All the family have been blown away by them. Thank you for making our whole day so fun, you really made us feel so relaxed and we hardly knew you were there taking photos most of the day.”
Here are some of my favourites:
I think the most amazing cake I have EVER photographed! 120 hand made, hand painted little tea cups, and the whole thing is edible. WOWZA! Love it!
HaHa ... I think I should explain this photo ...
Sam has a tattoo on his bum that says "Golf is life" and he is famous for getting it out. His wedding day was not an exception! Hillarious!
Me on the roof taking the group photo!
